Campaigns and Elections

Hi classmates,

Just recently, I came along this article while keeping with recent stories about American politics. You can access the article from the following link. http://edition.cnn.com/2016/02/04/politics/democratic-debate-highlights/index.html

The article is about the ongoing campaigns and elections. The article discusses about how Hillary Clinton, is angry with Democratic presidential rival Bernie Sanders. Sanders are casting some doubts into the authenticity of Hillary’s in the battle against the Republicans.  Sanders asserted that Clinton’s political favor was likely to be bought by the rich donors.

There has been a fight between the two over who is most genuine since Sanders argued that Clinton could not be both a progressive and moderate. This assault frustrated Clinton and she defended herself by saying that she is a progressive who always get results. Sanders’ is just trying to discredit Clinton by arguing that her donors could control her after elections.

According to what we have learnt this term, individual donors, political action committees, political parties and other committees fund campaigns. Therefore, Sanders is discrediting Clinton’s individual donors. In addition, voters decide on whom to vote for by looking at the partisanship, policy concerns and candidate characteristics. When candidates take different positions on issues, the issue becomes relevant to voters when making their decision. Sanders are trying to identify himself as the only outsider in the Democratic Party. He is just building on his personal characteristics. All over the article, both candidates are trying hard to have different positions on issues as the Iraq war. Each candidate is trying to be as different as possible from the other candidate. This is what American politics is all about, taking different arguable positions at all times.
