The counselor must know legal, ethical and professional guidelines and standards which they can apply while making decisions. A professional counselor must show that they comprehend regulatory issues in the practice of professional counseling in line with ethical principles.

Professional values and attitudes with the comportment and behavior that reflects the beliefs and values of psychology. The professional must demonstrate relevant knowledge and ethical behavior while pursuing their duties. The counselor must be able to discuss challenges in adherence to professional values with the supervisors. The counselor should be accountable and reliable through strictly following deadlines and policies of the institution.
