One of the most difficult aspects of teaching History to students who are not History majors is getting them to understand that History is not about static dates and events from the past. History is quite alive and fluid and the events of the past often have irreparable impacts on the future. The world would be a much better place if our politicians and world leaders studied and understood History. History is quite often repeated. Many terrible events from the past occur over and over again in different locations around the world, because the “lesson” was not learned after the first occurrence. I am asking you to consider all that we have read so far in class from WEEK ONE through WEEK FOUR. Identify one historical event, individual, policy, practice, or concept that we have read about. Then I want you to identify a repeat of that selection that has occurred within the last 20 years. Your Mid Term is a well written essay that presents the similarities between your selection in our readings and the past twenty years.
