Data from administrative, clinical, and web 2.0 systems need to be stored and managed in order for the DNP to access it for information and knowledge generation. In your group, investigate how YOUR organizations store administrative and clinical system data (and Web 2.0, if using those tools). Does your organization store data in a Data Warehouse? Does your organization store data in siloed repositories? Share your findings about how Data to Knowledge (D2K) is handled in YOUR specific organization. Who are the gatekeepers of the data? Are there opportunities for data mining? Explain Are you able to request reports? If so, what is the process? Are you able to request extraction of data? If so, what is the process? Is there a data dictionary available to help you define what is stored? Identify strengths and weaknesses and provide recommendations, and highlight the role of the DNP in leading change. Prepare a brief plan for data extraction from information systems and databases to address your practice problem.
