Break the poem into at least 3 sections. This is important, so be sure to break it into sections before beginning your reading! Once you’ve set your stopping points, begin reading the poem and stop to FW for 5 minutes or so each time you hit a break. When you FW, you’re writing about anything coming to mind, whether about the poem directly, indirectly, or not at all. Just write as much as you can. When time is up, read the next section of the poem. At the end of the poem, FW one more time to capture those last thoughts and words. Once you’ve done all the FWs related to the poem, you don’t need to edit or anything, just post the writing here. You can do the same poem for both activities or two different poems. But remember: the essay itself will be only on a single poem. writing as much as you can!
