Grecian gods

Religion is an essential part of human beings whereby they acknowledge deities that have superior power than them.  Greeks had images and statues of their gods and goddesses placed in temples for many purposes. Egyptian mythological gods were influenced by nature and events affecting Egypt itself. A gentle nature offered gods and goddesses a realm of shaping the latter. From module, Grecian gods and goddess mythology is more powerful for its followers. Greek gods and goddess in their hybridization of human and animals are viewed to influence nature rather than be influenced to alter nature. Hence, reverence paid to them is due to the meaning and power they hold rather than they are to be bestowed. They are brought out to have human attributes of marrying and giving birth. It is one of the characteristics of these gods and goddesses that make them powerful for its follower.

Student response

In response to the classmates’ response, the human forms that were goddess and gods in Egypt were influenced by nature. It implies that they would only be existent if nature offered comfortable conditions. Moreover, great deities should influence human existence by changing their conditions as it is from Grecian mythology. As you have noted, the Greek gods had all aspects of human nature and are relatable to human ideologies and existence since they carried out similar characteristics of life. They would engage in warfare, reproduction, protection and influence nature to suits their situations. Compared to Greek gods, Egyptian gods were acknowledged in preference of ruling classes which would demean the low social classes. Therefore, in support of the student’s response, the Grecian mythology is more powerful for its followers.
