Healthcare Policy and Delivery Systems

Donald Trump as part of his campaign pledges has brought many reforms to health care policy.  When he rose to power, Trump made two promises to the citizens concerning health care: lowering prescription drug cost and repealing Obamacare. Trump has voiced his dislike for the Affordable Care Act that was passed to a law under the Obama reign (Simms, 2017). Although he has not been able to repeal for this act, Trump has considerably weakened the bill. One of the reforms he has been able to deliver is on tax on citizens who are not covered by health insurance. Through the signing of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, Trump and his administration have been able to remove incentives for healthy people to get insurance. It has also succeeded in giving citizens who buy their health coverage tax credits as well as expanded health saving accounts which help them a lot in paying for their coverage (Simms, 2017). A national insurance marketplace has also been created. This allows insurers to sell health plans across state lines. The introduction of American Patients First Plan has enabled the reduction of drug prices. All these reforms have been brought about by Trump to challenge Obamacare which he says it does not benefit the American people.
