This week you will do a research paper in which you augment your knowledge of Knowledge Management Systems (KMS) and Project Management Maturity Models (PMMM). Using research from the DeVry Library, searches of the PMI (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.website, and articles from the websites of project management practitioners and consultants, answer the following questions. There is no template this week; use what you have learned about APA formatting from previous templates to create headings and structure for your essay that organize your paper by the topics below. You can use an old assignment and simply change the headings to Heading 1 and Heading 2 from the MS Word Styles menu group on the Home Tab, and then update your Table of Contents. 1. Briefly describe what a Knowledge Management System is. How do companies justify the investment in a knowledge management system? 2. Research the KMS in project management or related contexts. Describe how companies have used the KMS in their project work. Describe the benefits and whether a KMS improves project management effectiveness. 3. Search for knowledge management software that can be purchased commercially. Find knowledge management system software from two vendors and compare them. Which of these two do you think would be best for a mature project organization to use? Why? 4. Briefly describe what a Project Management Maturity Model is, and how it increases the effectiveness of project management. 5. Go to google images and search on Project Management Maturity Models. You will see many different diagrams of such models. Find three such models, and compare them. What do they have in common? How are they different? 6. Research challenges that companies face in implementing PMMM’s. Cite at least two articles that address these challenges. 7. Suggest ways firms can overcome these challenges to implementing their own Project Management Maturity Model. Your paper should use APA formatted figures and tables (if any tables), with proper in-text citations and references. The paper should also be approximately 5-10 pages and include a reference page. Be concise, brief, yet complete in answering the questions above.
