Instructions for Writing Paper Two: Begin your essay with a brief summary (2-3 sentences) and a statement of the central idea/theme of one of the stories listed above. In a thesis statement, identify how the author uses character, conflict, and point of view to support the theme. Choose the main character and analyze how the author presents that character’s traits. Explain how (or if) the character develops (static vs. dynamic) as the story progresses. Identify the point of view, and determine how the point of view affects how readers perceive the story. Next, Identify the internal and external conflicts; explain how the conflicts are related, how they drive the plot forward, and how they are resolved. You must support your view with evidence from the story.
