Medication Name and Strength

The medication name is Metoprolol Tartrate. It is for treating hypertension. The drug is a beta blocker that acts by blocking neurotransmitters such as epinephrine thereby lowering heart rate/blood pressure. The drug is available in different strengths in which extended-release tablet occur in doses of 25, 50, 100 and 200 mg. The side effect of the medication includes drowsiness, tiredness, diarrhea, and dizziness. A slow heartbeat may be possible. Decreased flow of blood to the feet as well as the hands may make them feel cold. Dosage

The patient is required to take two 25 mg tablets per day for 90 days to complete the 180 tablets (Woo & Robinson, 2016).

Directions

The medication should be taken orally with or right after a meal. Intake should be on a regular basis get excellent results. It may take several weeks before a patient starts feeling the benefits of the drug. As a result, it is essential to continue taking the medication even if one feels well.
