Discussion 1: Trustworthiness in Qualitative Research
In qualitative research, trustworthiness takes the turn as being the extent of reliability and validity of an assessment. Strategies of assessing the integrity of a study depend mainly on its credibility and articulation of confidence towards familiarizing with the original author’s assertions. Researchers could embark on the application of triangulation to determine the likelihood of content, and acknowledging a research’s trustworthiness also depends on the content’s transferability. It delineates on how the researcher can distinguish their select findings in conformance to the original author’s views. Through the use of thick description technique, it makes it easy to depict if the research findings align with other relative contexts of the study. (Ravitch et al., 2016). Research also needs to certify its confirmability. It defines the level of neutrality of the findings, from the basis of the participant’s responses and views. Lastly, the trustworthiness of research also depends on its dependability in that, what is its influences on future scholars. Through the use of inquiry audit, it makes it simpler to predict a given research’s consistency.
Discussion 2: Ethics in Data Collection
There are underlying valuable aspects in the gathering of data, which determines the code of ethics of the whole process. For instance, professional attitude as an aspect requires every institute involving in research to carry out themselves in a somewhat professional manner. Through this, it leads to the upholding of the information’s confidentiality and privacy as well (Rubin & Rubin, 2016). Professional attitude also necessitates for transparent research free from any individual biasness. In doing so, the researchers make sure that in the process of data collection, no interference happens to the participant’s freedom.
