As a group project, my groupmates and I have linguistically analyzed a storybook and designed a lesson plan for a Grade 2 class. Now, the individual task is divided into three parts – (1) An explanation of how suitable the text is for a P2 class. This should take into account social, cultural, linguistic and literacy factors. You should also explain why the text is suitable for shared reading and the literacy learning opportunities it offers. (2) An explanation for the choice of learning objectives. You should clearly explain what you have selected as your learning objectives and justify your choice. You may wish to refer to your text analysis in Appendix 1 in this section. You should refer to both the learning objectives for this lesson and also explain what your learning objectives would be for the subsequent reading(s). (3) An explanation of the pedagogical underpinning of the sequence of learning in the lesson plan and how this addresses the challenges the text presents to an ESL reader and how it exploits the literacy learning opportunities. You should go into detail about how you scaffold the demands of the text for the learner and how you create opportunities for learning. You are recommended to divide this section into sub-sections: Pre-reading, While-reading: First reading; Post-reading. All readings and materials are provided.
