Selection Process Design

An effective selection design is the one that ensures that the right person is recruited for the right job.  In this case, the school requires qualified teachers who will ensure that the objectives of the school are realized.  The school expects to have at least one hundred applicants for the five posts advertised in the media.  The first important step in the selection process is screen for the basic qualifications from the pool of applicants. This will require proper understanding of the job requirements, for instance, the applicants must be categorized as mathematics, English, and history.  This initial stage must ensure that all the shortlisted candidates have the minimum requirements for the advertised posts (Compton, Morrissey & Nankervis, 2009).  It is worth noting that any form of discrimination in terms of sex, gender or any other form of discrimination should be avoided at all costs.

After identifying applicants with minimal job requirements, the next step should be examining core traits and cognitive abilities of the prospective employees. It is imperative to note that the school is in an urban setting and aims at improving the lives of the students. This dream can never be realized if the employees do not share the same traits. The recruitment process must ensure that all the prospective employees have the cognitive ability to take the school to higher levels.

The next essential step will be the interviewing stage.  This is a very important stage in the selection process since it enables verification of essential information from the interviewee. It is at this stage that a comprehensive behavioral audit will be carried out (Gatewood, Feild & Barrick, 2011). During the interview, the interviewee must be able to prove important background information considered earlier in the selection process. It is also during this process that the school can determine the kind of influence the teacher is likely to instill to the students. Finally as a consultant, I would also request to know the main challenges faced by the institution. This will be important in making the right choice of employees.
