The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA) is an agency within the United States, Department of Health and Human Services, which leads and promotes public health and well-being. Most of the youths abuse drugs of different types depending on the level of gang involvement in society. They end up developing mental conditions such as psychosis or depression. Therefore, the collection of information through survey is critical to help in decision making towards addressing the influence. Each nation collects data which is used to develop strategies to ensure that substance abuse is minimized.

New York is my state whose information has been compared with that of the United States, and the consumer survey is available within the report. The New York 2010 Mental Health National Outcome Measures contain reports on substance abuse status and its impacts. According to the data provided, the adult consumer survey is comparable to the country’s rate. However, family/child information is higher than that of the U.S. My state has better outcomes concerning children welfare. Most importantly, the United States national average data is consistent with New York’s.

Furthermore, similar data was collected from Kansas. However, both New York and Kansas reported similar categories in all segments with no variation except for the data. From a review perspective point, both states provided the same analysis of substance abuse and mental illness as per the statistics of the United States. However, Kansas has attached crucial data regarding methods to define adults with SPMI. New York has not provided such a piece of information.
