Technology, Math and Engineering

In life, a task can seem massive when you try to generalize the entire thing; however, if you partition it into smaller goals suddenly it can become achievable. When I first started to think about pursuing a degree in computer engineering, I thought it was going to be an impossible journey. Being 20 years old and given the challenges we face as a family, I know that with a college education, there will be a positive change. Regarding my educational background, I graduated from Coral Gables High School (Miami) in May 2015. My country of origin is Cuba, and since we came to the U.S. in 2012, my goal was to successfully graduate from high school and pursue a course related to technology. Much to my delight, I not only finished high school, but I am currently a student at Miami Dade College pursuing Associates in Arts degree. My graduation is in summer 2017.

The success in my life has given me the confidence to set longer term goals. Since my preferred topics of study are math, physics, chemistry and technology, my major is in computer engineering. Currently, I have the desire to take my education to another level by transferring to a university related with technology. I hope to become more technical and develop skills that would help me build software rather than imagining them. My interest in transferring to a technology-related university has not been restricted to college life. I have had the opportunity to work at a software company which gave me the knowledge to understand more about computer engineering and the world of business. I hope that by transferring to a university relate to technology, I will be able to gain in-depth knowledge of computer engineering because of the excellent learning atmosphere.

Although computer engineering is a broad course, I think that I possess the qualities required to pursue your degree program. Since my high school life, I have always been good at logical problem solving. My competency in math, physics, chemistry and technology has proven my ability to think creatively and solve problems. Studying physics and technology has helped me to understand the functioning of certain parts of the computer. I have developed both the analytic and evaluative skills by studying chemistry and physics. At Miami Dade College my math tutors regularly praise my abilities to multitask, solve problems and communicate. My love for sports especially baseball has enhanced my social life. I have an excellent communication skill that helps me to share my ideas with my colleagues, and I think that my new university will benefit a lot. I would like a transfer due to my strong desire to improve techniques and principles that advance my knowledge of computer engineering. I believe that I will find an enterprising spirit in my new environment given that I have the desire to set up a computer business.

I have a strong commitment to my education, and I know that if given a chance to study in your university, I will earn a solid grade and graduate with skills needed to build my career as a computer engineer. I believe that this is the right moment for me to take my education to a new stage. My research shows that your institution offers updated teaching methods that reflect new advances in technology thus giving students in-depth knowledge. I look forward to pursuing a degree at your university.
