The New Testament

The Christian bible is divided into two parts that include the Old and the New Testaments.  The Old Testament is the first part of the bible and provides literature relating to God before the coming of Christ. On the other hand, the New Testament is the second part of the Christian bible and provides literature relating to god’s people after the coming of Christ. Unlike the Old Testament that talked of several prophecies and other things, the New Testament contains contemporary issues in Christians’ lives. In fact, the content of the New Testament are valid now just like they were 2000 years ago. It is prudent to note that the New Testament contains literature which different people set forth concerning the meaning and significance of earthly life of Jesus Christ.  It is in chapters of the New Testament that Christians learn about the life of Jesus and what is expected of them to get the salvation that Jesus talked about in his days on earth.

The central figure in the New Testament is Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Chapters in this part of the bible give chronological events of life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  For instance, the four gospels describe his life, death until resurrection while the other chapters are concerned with the followers of Christ and his life after death. It is in the gospels that the Christians get extensive records of what Jesus did and what he taught.  Through the teachings he gave to the disciples, Christians are able to get a clue on what is expected of them.  It is an important part of the bible since it makes it possible to relate with the contemporary world.

It is prudent to note that the New Testament was written by different people who were inspired by the Holy Spirit. These men were inspired at different times thus the New Testament was not written at the same time.  It is believed that at least eight people were involved in writing the new testament and it took them several years to compile the all the chapters in the book. Besides having all these men inspired by the Holy Spirit, not all of them appear in the New Testament. For instance, in 1st Corinthians 5:9, Paul says that he had written another epistle to the Corinthians. However, the letter is not contained in the New Testament thus making it possible that other contents from Matthew, James and peter may not have been included in the New Testament.  The chapters that appear in the New Testament are only those that fulfilled and adhered to canon of scriptures. The content of the Book travelled quickly from their origin in Ephesus to other nations.

Christians are always reading both the new and old testament as they believe it is solely the word of God. Many consider the bible as an essential reading that will keep them connected to their maker. In fact, most Christians believe that it is only through the bible, and especially the New Testament, that they get to know the ultimate meaning of God. It is through the bible that most Christians find keys to becoming responsible and better individuals. Also, the New Testament has been attributed as a source of hope and strength essential to overcome earthly challenges. For instance, during the sermon in the mountain, when Jesus is tried by Satan and overcomes challenges, is a great source of inspiration for Christians. It is for this reason that many people will find the bible beneficial during trying moments or situations that are beyond their control. For instance, people will always read the bible to seek comfort when there instance of death and illnesses amongst other life challenges. People may also find it beneficial reading the bible for theological reasons.  For instance, people pursuing theology in will find it important reading the New Testament to equip them with necessary information to pursue their careers.
