Characteristics of the renaissance

This is a season of great cultural change and achievement that began in 14th century and ended in the 16th century. In essence, it refers to modernization of the ways of doing things. The renaissance was characterized with numerous changes especially i9n cultural, political and religious settings. There was stiff competition from the various cities with Florence spearheading the Italian renaissance.

Accomplishments of the renaissance

The renaissance brought about numerous changes in Italy. For instance, the several cities became free communes with their governments. This resulted in numerous war fares as political contests heightened. The renaissance also brought about change in artistes way of doing things. The artistes learned the techniques of portraying their arts especially using three dimensions. It is also worth noting that religious aspects also changed during the renaissance.

Renaissance and individualism in Protestants reformation

This was happening in the 16th century after the reformers wanted to conform to the teachings of the New Testament from the bible.  It brought about disagreement between the Roman Catholic and the reformers also known as the Protestants. Individual thinking and the urge to maintain secular power was instrumental to individualism. These popes were elected from influential families and were powerful earthly rulers who lived in magnificent cities and prompted Protestants to act.

Religious beliefs of different Protestants sects

The introduction of reformation brought about different sects of the Protestants. There was introduction of many Christian churches with different beliefs. The different beliefs brought about differences in political, economical and social settings.  For instance, the banking sector was received with mixed reactions especially in terms of borrowing and usury. The perception of earthly reaches was a major area of concern since some were very materialistic while others believed in heavenly riches.

Catholic Church response to protestant movement

It is worth noting that the Roman Catholic Church was challenged by the protestant reformation of the 16th century. It was therefore paramount for the Roman Catholic to counter these challenges and reassert its control. For instance, catholic stalwarts such as Italy Spain and France0 were united against the reformation countries sled by Germany and England.  The pope made efforts to depose the Protestants governments and restore catholic power to Catholics. Additionally, the Protestants experienced several internal conflicts between the Protestants and the Catholics.  Catholic supreme also drained funds from the reformers as is the case experience between Germany and Italy.

Reformation and change in social and cultural patterns

The introduction of protestant group of Christians brought about immense change in social and cultural patterns in the 17th century. For instance, from the work of Luther, the Protestants are against the selling of indulgencies and lack of purgatory powers of the pope. The reformation brought about several social movements that were against the catholic beliefs. It also brought about change in theology and introduction of modern churches with different cultural background.

Slavery and colonialism

Slavery is defined as a situation where people are owned by others. It was a common occurrence in the past where most colonial masters used their colonies as their slaves. The booming economy of the renaissance brought about institutional oppression especially in Europe. Most of these European countries ended up being colonial masters and had cultivated the slavery behavior from the booming renaissance economy. Most developing countries especially from Middle East and Africa suffered more from slavery with Vietnam reporting selling over 10,000 slaves. This resulted in increase in slavery trade even in colonial times.

New world market and European culture

Although the slavery culture has gradually diminished in the new world market, it is worth noting that there are still some countries where slavery is being practiced. However, it is imperative to understand that the native people benefit from the modern market. There has been enlighten in the modern economy where mutual benefit between the natives and the European powers.
