Evaluation of a National Argument 4-5 page (MLA) 200 points In the first essay, you were asked to analyze and update an argument on globalization from your textbook. For this next assignment we are taking those ideas to the next level and will be examining America’s changing role as a global leader. Founded in 1945, the United Nations has been the guiding organization in the world, allowing nations to negotiate and work together to solve problems, avoid wars, impose sanctions, and distribute money, goods, and personnel where needed. But could Donald Trump, and other world leaders, be right when they argue that the purpose is no longer being served and the organization needs to reexamine their role and responsibilities? After all, the UN has proven ineffective in negotiating peace in Israel, was not the crucial factor in eliminate Apartheid in South Africa, was not able to prevent Russia from annexing Crimea from Ukraine, and has been consistently unable to reduce tensions between China and Tibet and Taiwan. For this assignment, you are to write a formal academic essay following the !!!!!ROGERIAN!!!!!!! model of argumentation, where you either argue to negotiate or argue to assert a) to President Trump that he continue full US support to the United Nations or b) to leadership in the Democrat party to withdraw some US support to the United Nations We will be going over the Rogerian model in detail, for now, note that in the Rogerian the assumption is that your audience disagrees or even strongly disagrees with your position.
