The memoir is a unique type of narrative. It is usually autobiographical although it is not meant to tell the entire life stories of people as biography. Generally, a memoir is only a specific piece of one’s life. Different approaches are necessary to make the memoir interesting and appealing to the reader’s minds. Notably, in“The Way to Rainy Mountain” memoir by N. Scott Momaday, the author uses the first-person approach to write the memoir. Momaday implies the personal pronoun “I” to describe the events of the story. He relays actual episodes as they unveil themselves through his memoir.  The first person approach in the story makes it easier to be told by different people who are willing to relate the story to their influences. The method provides a valid point of view that brings a sense of closeness with the audience especially as the story come to an end. For example, the conclusion of the story portrays that the whole memoir captures Momaday’s novel, the story of his grandmother as well as the history of the Kiowa people (Gale, 2016).Similarly, Scott applies lyrical description and poetic languages such as personification, metaphor, and similes to make his story interesting to the audience.

Additionally, the style blends amicably to Thomas King’s approach in telling his story in the audio module two. The use of personal reflection approach allows Thomas to permeatethrough his life experiences to createa valid point of view. However, the presence of a straightforward and objective tone used in Momaday’s memoirs reveals an emotional attitude as opposed to the bright sound in the audio model. Overall, the first person approach makes the story interesting and easy to relate.
