Preparations and Actions to take in the Event of a Volcanic Eruption



1.”More than 80% of the earth’s surface is volcanic in origin. The sea floor and some mountains were formed by countless volcanic eruptions. Gaseous emissions from volcano formed the earth’s atmosphere” (Leavitt 61).

  1. People should be concerned about volcanic eruptions due to the negative impacts that are involved. From past experience, volcanoes have resulted to destruction of properties and resulted to deaths of many people. A good example is the Mt.Pelee eruption that resulted to more than 30,000 people dying.
  2. People can prepare for the disaster by having an emergency kit supply including things that they might need and devising a family emergency plan in case things get out of hand.


  1. According to Ready, “a volcano is a mountain that opens downward to a reservoir of molten rock below the surface of the earth.”

2.A volcano is caused by pressure mounting on the magma chamber, which results to some contents being forced to the surface. The magma is ejected through the cracks found in the rocks.
