RR #4 Mid-Semester Self-Reflection

The course so far is incredible and am learning great things from it. The class readings especially the poems, class discussions especially the peer discussions, mini-lectures especially those on poetry, and the weekly reflective assignments are helping me develop most. The poems such as “mother to son” Langston Hughes, “This Room and Everything in it” Li-Young Lee, “Eating Alone” Li-Young Lee “Eating Together” Li-Young Lee and “To My Dear and Loving Husband” Anne Bradstreet has made me learn more about our current society and also borrowed some aspects from them that I would precisely emulate in life. They have also enhanced my poetic analysis skills much. Peers darting the peer discussions have also made me learn better skills to analyze and approach questions. My writing skills have much developed due to the mini-lectures that we have had. Additionally, the mini-lecturers have given a better approach of analyzing poems in different dimensions for better understanding. Weekly reflective assignments and analytical essays have also made me enhance my research skills since most of them have made me to go and do extensive research to come up with a more impressing paper.

All the things that we do in class and homework are much helpful. First, the class discussions help me a lot to approach my assignments as well as other courses assignments. The assignments also make me do extensive research which has to enable me to learn more English skills on my own. I would be much happy if we could be discussing what is involved in a particular assignment in class so that everyone can have a way forward to handle the homework. My greatest challenge as I started this course was approaching the homework given in class. I used to take more than 4 hours before starting working on the assignment. However, I have been able to overcome this challenge by always having a personal reflection of what I learned in class, going through the reading materials and doing some external research before beginning my homework.

Some of the poems we learn in class are much connected to my personal life. Additionally, the research skills that I have developed in this class are much helpful to me in completing assignments given in other coursework. I precisely feel at ease and stimulated by the learning community. The kills I get from the learning community are much helpful to me than those I learn alone. You have been so much helpful in this course. The precise explanation you provide in class help me much when doing my homework. I would be happy if you continue providing us with assignments insights in class. Thank you a lot for your continued support. Am eager to enter the second half of the semester.
