AHRQ

Are the activities conducted by the AHRQ worth the expenditures that are usually incurred in every fiscal year? Why?

Yes. The expenditures are worth given the benefits that come with AHRQ. To begin with, the scope of AHRQ enables medical practitioners to have adequate information for verification purposes on issues that do not seem clear. AHRQ also helps in eradication of processing flawed information and ensuring sufficient data gathering while at the same time eliminating faulty knowledge. Reports from 2010-2015 show that as a result of AHRQ, Hospital-Acquired Conditions (HACs) have declined. Over 3 million HACs were prevented during this period hence saving approximately 125,000 lives. This has also resulted to savings of more than $28 billion in healthcare costs. This shows that AHRQ is working effectively, and it should continue to receive funding.

What other activities would AHRQ adopt within its scope to make the agency more productive and successful?

Among the things that AHRQ would do to ensure that it becomes more successful and productive is ensuring that there is engagement of multiple stakeholders in all the activities involved. This will ensure that different perspectives are applied in all the activities involved. Emphasizing on things like clinical community linkages and capacity building through external infrastructure will go a long way in enhancing effectiveness. Setting up a favorable infrastructure for sharing information with other relevant agencies will also help in making things better.
