Analysis of an Advertisement (AXE deodorant)

Among the things that attract me to the advertisement is the creativity involved. The advertisement uses an environment that we are used too in our day to day activities. Emergency exists are likely to be encountered in almost every building hence making them a creative mechanism to pass information to any audience due to the familiarity.

The audience for the advertisement can be either men or women. For men, they are the primary target. They are the ones that the AXE deodorant would be applied on. Men are being shown the effect that the deodorant would have while on their bodies and this message is meant to entice them in purchasing the product in order to reap these benefits. The advertisement also targets women since they will get the notion of how impressive the deodorant is. This might trigger them to purchase the deodorant for the men in their lives like brothers, boyfriends, husbands among others.

The advertisement has used rhetoric to help show how good AXE is. The man guiding to the emergency exit is not running from an inferno, but running from women who are after him. The women are running after him since they are driven by lust due to the amazing scent he is exhibiting after using the AXE deodorant. This form of presentation is meant to have a persuasive effect on the target audience but lacks in sincerity.
