For several years the focus in most schools has been on science, mathematics, and literacy.  The subjects are thought to have greater competition in the international system of education. Other study subjects such as arts have become isolated from the educational system, and little has been done to make them compulsory in the educational system. More attention should be given to arts education while following the guidelines in the “No Child Left behind Act” since it has several benefits. Arts education can be applied in special education for kids with all kinds of disability and autism. More efforts should be directed towards the execution of arts education in most schools.

The reason why the research aims to explore the area of arts education is because in countries like the US and UK little emphasis have been placed on arts education in schools. The study of arts has benefits such as providing students with an opportunity to be imaginative, and this can even improve performance in other subjects. Arts education enhances the ability of children to transform abstractions into reality. Playing instruments increases the creativity of a student, and the learner can think critically while finding solutions to different textbook problems. People regard arts as No Brainer, but in reality, arts assist kids to express themselves diligently as compared to when they just major in science and math. For example in arts education, sometimes the learner can be asked to develop a paint that represents a memory, and in the process, they acquire creativity through conditioning.

While several scholars have reported that arts education does not improve on academic performance and only retards it since leaners are distracted by diverting from the key subjects, key researchers have shown that arts can enhance academic performance.  The skills that are learned in arts can also be applied in academics for better performance. American researchers reported that a child who participates in arts is four times likely to perform in academics than the one who is a regular in only participating in math and science. Arts education is vital in visual learning, especially for young kids. Drawing, sculpting, and painting which is common in arts can assist a child to develop on visual-spatial skills. Children need to be practical with their environment, and this is only possible through understanding much on the world than just learning numbers and texts.

Arts can enhance the problem-solving skills of a child which is acquired through improved Decision making. Creating an item in art requires making choices and decisions which is available in arts education. Arts education is vital in the development of motor skills of a child which is acquired as a child is scribbling with crayon or holding a paintbrush. A child who is using scissors to cut straight lines emphasizes the use of scissors since it develops the ability a learner requires for writing. A child who participates in arts education understands the skills needed in group collaboration, and hence they can regulate their emotions. Such a child can take charge of the situation and create peace with one another implying arts reduces the character of violence in a child.

In conclusion, arts education is essential and should be introduced in schools and supported by the educational systems of our countries. Arts education is vital in the development of a child and enhancing their skills in decision making while solving problems. Studies have shown that arts have much more than just academic benefits but also psychological benefits to the learners. Therefore, arts education is necessary and should be introduced in the modern education system.
