Introduction/ problem identification

Conflict among the management and employees is a problem that seems to affect most organizations. This problem is evident to have taken root in Askari Bank Limited in Pakistan. The diversity in interests, values, and views among the management and the workers has affected the performance of this organization as a whole. In other words, the conflict stems from different interests and goals that are incompatible, and if not managed, leads to decreased productivity, poor performance, economic loss as well as fragmentation as in the case of Askari Bank. With the availability of this issue in the market, the decision-making process is compromised for the management. Lack of peace and tranquility in the workplace affects the ability for both the management and workers to plan and act on issues that can develop the organization to another level. Conflict as a matter of interest in this proposal needs to be solved since the problem has affected Askari Bank in the sense that it has registered poor performance and customer dissatisfaction.

Askari Bank is one of the best performing banks in Pakistan. It was incorporated in 1991 and began operation in 1992. However, the bank has continued to face an internal conflict that is evident to arise from inadequate resources. The resources are not enough to meet the needs of the bank in improving its productivity. As a result, departmental managers and employees have entered in conflict with each wanting more resources channeled to his or her department. Conflict has developed over time affecting the once existed mutual trust as well as employee-employer respect. In this proposal, conflict is evaluated in aspects of causes, impact and possible solutions by considering communication which is a crucial role in conflict solving. The company in study is Askari Bank Limited in Pakistan.

Rhetorical analysis

According to Awan and Ahson, a company that fails to manage conflict effectively leads to dysfunctional communication as well as poor behavior among staff members. Unmanaged conflict can, in general, affect the overall performance of workers since they will lack morale to inject efforts in their roles. In this case, the conflict problem experienced at Askari Company has affected the productivity of departmental services as well as the general performance which has hindered the company from moving to another level. My direction to address this problem will be through evaluating of factors behind the issue, in this case, poor communication, strong negative misperceptions and negative behaviors reported at this workplace.

Furthermore, in addressing the problem, personality clashes or rather an ego, unresolved disagreements among the people will be evaluated. The conflict issue can be addressed through the following;

Using influencers or stakeholders. These are ideal people who can transform the organization positively. In this case, talking to them about the problem affecting the company can bring social ideas and information that can help manage the problem

Creating a team that can act as a voice of neutrality. The team can assist in developing conflict resolution through cohesive dialogues which creates solutions in such situations such as opinion differences and breakdowns.

Using executive coaching or expertise in leadership. This strategy will be vital since these people are able to cross-fertilize as well as connect departments, and teams within the company. They will have to take note of the departments that are not collaborating or not talking to each other; hence, sit them down and address the conflict.

Research design

The study will be conducted on Askari bank employees in the Multan district where approximately a total sample of 200 participants will be contacted. Those who agree to fill the questionnaire will be scheduled to do it face to face. According to —– research design is the conceptual structure in which given research is conducted. Research design entails collection, measurement as well as data analysis. In other words, the design of a study is considered the results achieved after various decisions have been conducted. In the case of Askari Bank Limited, descriptive research design will be used. According to —–, the use of descriptive research design is suitable in establishing different factors that are mostly associated with causes of problems, types of behavior as well as outcomes. I prefer this research design because it identifies and describes how best independent factors affect the dependent variables. In this study, independent variables will be communication, negotiation, and use of third parties.

On the other hand, the dependent variable is the general performance of Askari Bank Limited.  Arguably, the study will embrace the use of primary data which is suitable in providing authentic and reliable sources. In this case, data will be collected through the use of questionnaires where participants would be asked questions related to the conflict in Askari Bank and allowed to explain their answers through possible experiences, ideas, opinion, and even perceptions. The participants, in this case, are Askari bank employees, customers, and management personnel. The questionnaires will be divided into three possible segments; causes of the conflict problem, effects of the problem and techniques suitable for conflict management. Five-point Likert scale will be employed for evaluating responses, in that 1 will represent a strong disagreement while 5 will signify strong agreement. Data analysis will further apply the descriptive method to analyze the general performance of Askari Bank.
