A business strategy exists at a product level or business unit. The strategy focuses on improving the competitive position of the organization’s product or service in the industry served by the business unit (Hunger, Wheelen, Hoffman & Bamford, 2015). Moreover, the organization’s business strategy entails means of achieving the desired goals, customers’ expectations and sustained competitive advantage in the industry. The type of health care organization that might apply this strategy is the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). The health care organization provides patients with selected surgical and procedural services outside the hospital settings (Center, Covington, Niagara & Manchikanti, 2011). The organization emphasizes on improving the quality and customer services while reducing costs. Ambulatory surgery center has employed a competitive strategy to differentiate their health care services from competitors in the following ways. The organization uses highly efficient and effective production resources (Center, Covington, Niagara & Manchikanti, 2011). Teams of physicians used are specially trained and highly skilled. In addition, types of equipment and supplies used are superiors and cost effective. Lastly, physicians in the organization can schedule surgical procedures more conveniently thus reducing scheduling delays and waiting time.
