Canadian Restaurant Industry

 

The Canadian restaurant industry has matured to a level that it is now being trusted with the responsibility of providing jobs and spurring economic growth of the nation. The bars, restaurants as well as pubs are visited at least 17 million times each day the connection of the society with this industry is more personal and frequent. This paper aims at discussing consumer behavior in Canada by analyzing the restaurant industry, especially in Halifax.

While the people of Halifax are on the way to their workplaces, some make a stop at restaurants for some coffee while others order dinners meant to celebrate their events such as anniversaries from these shops. Others visit the restaurants and pubs as well as bars for special treats or to chat with friends after a long day at work or during weekends. Regardless of the service or the time at which it is needed, the customers get great food and register an enjoyable experience that is not easy to be erased from their memories.

The statistics available at Halifax show some astonishing numbers about the pubs, bars, and clubs. Among the working people of Halifax, 22% of them indicate that they got their first job in the restaurant industry. At least half of the population of the people acknowledge that they have worked in this industry or have a relative or friend that works here either directly or indirectly. Additionally, 34% of the persons living in Halifax show a great desire to work in this industry. This is because many of them believe that working in the hospitality industry gives someone essential skills that could be transferred to other jobs; therefore one gains more experience that is universally applicable.

The revenue in sales that are realized annually from the restaurant industry in Canada is about $60 billion. The employees are above 1 million which means that the people of Canada have accepted the restaurant industry to be part of its circle. The gateway to work for the people of Halifax are the restaurants, pubs, and bars. Many derive their experience from this work or either get employed here.

Restaurants, pubs, and bars are the number one choice for those who want to experience hospitality in Halifax. This is why many get to socialize in these places as they meet with friends and family and share food and drinks among other recreational activities such as playing pool table. Enjoying while spending time in eating out at restaurants is a number one activity that is preferred by many in Halifax. The consumers are so motivated about the idea of spending time in these joints whereby those who are between 18 to 34 years form the least number of people in the same age group in terms of preferring to socialize in these joints. They are the least with a 19.2 percent. Those who are 35-54 rate at 24.9%. Meanwhile, the ones above 55 years of age lead with 40.2 percent. This means that the people of Halifax have accepted and become a majority of consumers at pubs, clubs, bars, and restaurants.

In conclusion, there is a confident and robust consumer behavior in Halifax as far as the restaurant industry is concerned. A significant portion of the population has welcomed these businesses in their society and given them a priority.
