Canton is one of the places located in South China. It extends to the neighboring cities of Foshan and Dongguan. Most of the inhabitant its of the city are Cantonese who is thought to be the descendants of Macao. Han Chinese is one of the ethnic groups of Cantonese. The classification of the group falls as the first order of the Abas Line population of Cantonese.

Being a  Han nationality, the original roots of my community were in East Asia which originated from the East Asian Mongolian ethnic group. When compared to the mainland population the group accounts for about 92%. Even though the majority of the group live in Canton, the group is distributed around the world making a population of around 1.4 million.

The Han nationality also descended of the ancient tribes called the Yandi. Besides, the Han nationality can also be divided based on geographical factors and the cultural and linguistic aspects. The national distribution occurred due to their historical movement from north to south of China. The move, therefore, resulted in the population distribution across different cities

The naming of the community originated from the Han dynasty. Therefore, the name further influenced is identity i business and other economic activities. For example, It called itself Hanguo when dealing  with the neighboring countries However after the 19th century Han was  officially sued to define the community’s official name

The ancestors of the Han community were known as the Yellow emperor that lived according to the Yangshao culture. The population of the empire then expanded to different cities and areas across the world. However, they majorly settled in Canto also known as Guangzhou.

Guangzhou is one of the cities that attract real estate markets in China. Therefore, it is one of the most expensive towns. The city is known for the Taoist culture heroes which introduced the rice cultivation practice in the region. The Portuguese then entered the English name Canton. Being one of the first centers for trade, it attracted significant foreign traders such as Portuguese and British. The Portuguese however, influenced the cities major economic activities thus enhancing the growth of the city.

Recently, the city has received rapid growth due to the increased number of foreign immigrants from Asia and other parts of the world.

The city was the only Chinese port to foreign traders, and this contributed to rapid growth. Therefore, the trading at the city increased to other neighboring towns.

The Guangzhou population is majorly made up of the Han Chinese Thus most of the people in the region speak Cantonese as the primary language. It attracts tourist across different parts of the world.  Being the most widely spoken language, Cantonese has used for communication in schools. However, the young population has encouraged the use of Mandarin. However, most of the school administrators have discouraged the use of Cantonese in important learning institutions. The city also contains different religious groups. However, the most common religion is the Buddhist and Taoist Association. Besides the history of Islam and Christianity have been linked to the city.

Based on the 2010 census the city is made up of a population of about 12.78 million The population density is increasing and this can be attributed to rising rates of migrants especially those from Africa.
