Introduction

“College students attend different parties while in school, and every time a party is organized, alcohol consumption is reported. Particular students have made drinking culture, and they consume alcohol frequently. Studies have shown that students who drink excessively can consume an average of 17.9 drinks every week and the infrequent drinkers consume 4.8 drinks every week.  I want to inform all the college students some of the reasons attributed to drinking problems and why it remains to be a menace in the world of today.

Alcohol consumed by college students is majorly through binge drinking which constitutes to 90% of the alcohol consumed by the college students.  Consumption of alcohol in colleges contributes high percentages of crime that frequently occur in the colleges. Statistics have shown that 90% of college violence is related to alcohol drinking. For example, a report was released that 80% of males who were found guilty of rape were drinking before committing the crime. Wherever you are can you meditate through your life and evaluate how many times you drink in a week and the changes in behavior you experience after drinking. Drinking interferes with the normal functioning of the body, and it makes you stubborn of the consequences after committing a crime.

Several college students have been reported to engage in unprotected sex around four times every time they drink.  Unplanned and unprotected sexual intercourse contributes to high percentages of sexually transmitted diseases and unplanned pregnancy. Students regret after the act, but they find it too late to salvage the unforeseen circumstances. Drinking interrupts our thoughts, and while a student would like to forget emerging problems through drinking, they always lead to other severe problems. Drinking alcohol is not the only way out to escape through your issues as students, but you can seek spiritual guidance and technical advice from your mentors.

Currently, the performance of college students has been deteriorating with limited significant improvements. One of the primary reasons attributed to the decline in performance among the college students is drinking of alcohol. According to past studies conducted in a college in Florida, it was shown that alcohol is a factor in 40% of all academic challenges. 28% of dropouts from college were because of alcohol drinking. Students are only provided with one chance of commitment to their academics, but once they interfere with such an obligation, they ruin their future. Some of the students use school fees to drink, and after they have spent it wrongly, they walk outside the school forlorn and downcast never to come back.

I want to urge all students that the only and the best way to successfully live in a college is through taking a precaution on drinking. If you don’t drink it is okay with you but look for peers, who are focused. If you have drinking problems, this is the time for you to reduce the frequency and the quantity of drinking to stay healthy and achieve your academic goals. Modify your social lifestyles to prevent the adverse effects of drinking. Drinking problems are attributed to peers influence. The results comprise low academic performance, increased social vices, and transmission of sexually transmitted infections.”
