The article contains a lot of interesting information concerning what happened before and after the launch of the challenger. Before the challenger launch to space, five engineers predicted the failure of the rocket. The engineers requested the NASA officials and their managers to delay the mission longer than it was scheduled. The engineers held a contentious meeting where they claimed that the O- ring rubber that is important for the rocket failed to seal in cold environments properly. There was a need to delay the flight because the launch of the Challenger was supposed to take place in cold weather. The managers and all the NASA officials overruled the warnings from the engineers even after getting caution that the shuttle my blow up. They had already set their mind of flying to space so that they can prove to the world that they were doing the right thing. Unfortunately, it never worked out for them, and they should have listened to the engineers. The other interesting point about the article is that the shuttle was one of the oldest in the history of Columbia since it had completed twenty-seven missions. The state should have thought of an idea of making a replacement of the fleet before making new missions. Therefore, I disagree with the state by claiming that the shuttle had a technical problem yet they had received a warning early enough to correct the shuttle. The Investigation Board of Columbia declared that the accident occurred due breakage of a piece that insulates foam. The rupture struck a hole on the edge of the left wing of the shuttle which caused them to the accident. The article affects my career positively since it encourages me to be pessimistic. The only way to make your goals is to accept the risk. The astronauts took the risk as their tool as they decided to fly to space yet they knew their shuttle had a technical problem.
