A deductive explanation can be defined as a logical process where conclusion lies on a number of multiple facts that are assumed to be true. Most examples of deductive explanations use uncontested facts (Frankfort-Nachmias & Nachmias, 2015). An example is that all birds have wings. Deductive reasoning says that since all birds have wings and heron is a bird; then heron has a bird.

A probabilistic explanation is a kind of reasoning that considers the likelihood of an event occurring or the strength of belief about an event (Frankfort-Nachmias & Nachmias, 2015). This means that probability may be about human beings’ degree of beliefs about events or a thing. The weather, for example, is a probabilistic explanation in that future events are only likelihood and no one can predict with certainty.

Abductive explanations-These come in many guises. It may be viewed as a means of generating explanations for a phenomenon that meet certain conditions (Frankfort-Nachmias & Nachmias, 2015). An example is if one hears a baby crying and abduces that the baby wants to be breastfed. This is the best explanation that settles in mind.
