INTRODUCTION

A drug is defined as a substance that causes a physiological or psychological impact on a body when injected, inhaled, smoked, absorbed, consumed or even dissolved in an organization. A drug can be taken for medicinal purposes. There can also serve as preventive medicine used for future benefits. Such drugs cannot treat any symptoms or diseases that existed before. Medication dispensing is categorized into three behind the counter, over the counter and prescribed medicine. Those that available in shops and pharmacy and does not require any restrictions are known as over the bar. Behind the counter are those that given by the pharmacist without any prescription from the doctor.

 

Benefit accompanied by some drugs is that they heal the body. Some medicines are designed to improve, prevent or cure an actual disease. Chiropractor medicine can cure and treat the disease from its root whereas mainstream medicine prevents pin cause or heals the symptoms. Prescribed drugs improve the quality of the body, once a person is on medication the pain goes away, but soon the drug is out of the body the pain returns. They are so flexible regarding one can change the type of drug according to the lifestyle. (Sara J, March 16, 2018)

Drug impacts on a person vary with their size body, the strength, and quantity of the drug, an individual`s health and if there is any drug on the body at that time. One can be affected psychologically or physically this effects can either be long term or short term effects. Tolerance to the drug is built up by the more an individual consumes the drug. Drug dependence is caused by prolonged use of medicine, and it can affect the psychological, physical and social life of a person.

Drugs that are used for alerting the central nervous system of a person or the consciousness state to create positive feelings or emotions is called a recreational drug. Those drugs can either be legal, illegal or controlled drugs. Some legal drugs these are accepted are alcohol, betel nut, tobacco, and caffeine. There is an age restriction on consuming and purchasing some of these legal drugs. (Richard, L. 2005).

The risk associated with the use of drugs depends on the type of drug taken, the amount and the strength. Instant effect of medication in a human body is fatigue, lack of sleep or sleepiness, nauseous, headache, not feeling hungry, dizzy and shaky. Physical harm may include lack of sleep, to reason, hard to think and solve problems. A drug user may be sexually assaulted or may be involved in accidents. Long term affects cancer such as liver and lung, baldness, addiction, infectious disease and harm of a baby in case the mother is pregnant. Psychosis, mental illness, vein collapsing, teeth and jaw issues, mood swings, and accidental overdose may be a long term effect on the human body. (Sun smart, 2017)

CONCLUSION

Drugs can almost affect every part of the body including the brain, throat, cells, heart, veins and the immune system. Side effects can either be long term or short term depending on the drug you use. Drug on their own have their merits and shortcomings; this depends on the type and strength of the drugs.A
