The family is the basic structure in the society as it is a system of families that make up a community. Psychologists who work closely within the family systems view families as units. The general assumption is always that each member of the family has different personalities, interpretation of events, perspectives as well as habits (Pardeck, 2002). When a family member does or fails to do an action, this tends to affect not only them but the entire family members. When a member of the family suffers from a health issue, this tends to impact the entire family members.

Family experiences a myriad of challenges which include dealing with the social transformation by the children. Additionally, legal issues are likely to arise when challenges face families for instance during divorces. The family in the analysis has a strong spiritual belief to the Roman Catholic Church, are of the black race and believe in the socio-cultural practices as values that enhance the family systems (Pardeck, 2002).

The current involvement with social work in a typical family is the support provided by the family to social work, for instance, taking care of the environment and visiting children homes. The family under analysis has been instrumental in absorbing the members from the extended family and educating them.

Family needs should be aligned with the current services that are provided by psychologists as well as family health service providers. The goals of the family need to be in line with the individual objectives as well as some of the major elements that drive a family to success. A family is key as it ensures that social beings have a sense of belonging as well as feeling part of the greater society.
