Found Art

While visiting my friend, I came across this piece of art. The painting was well placed on her wall and was quite vivid for anyone coming in her apartment.

The first thing that came to mind upon seeing the painting is “The Starry Night” by Vincent Van Gogh. I could not tell exactly why it was the first artwork to come to mind, but there could have been several reasons. To begin with, both artworks have blue and yellow colors that seem to be dominating the concepts being represented. Van Gogh uses these colors to represent the sky, the moon and the stars. This painting was produced during the day. As a result, it would be safe to say that Van Gogh was working through imagination and not observation while working on the painting (Valli and Amandas 23).

The painting was more of an illustration of how a night looks like. This was more of how it looks outside at night when the moon and the stars are shining brightly. It was a visual explanation that was expected to give the target audience a factual representation. This form of illustration was both expressive and realistic (Thomson 39). Historically, illustration arts were linked to the industrial processes of publishing and printing. Nowadays, individuals involved with illustrations are going beyond visual and caricature representation to observational statements regarding current trends and popular culture (Valli and Amandas 57).

The cupcake art that I found in my friend’s apartment depicted some elements that were pertinent to Van Gogh’s work. The cupcakes in the painting were more of an illustration of the actual cupcakes. The painting was in such a way that anyone viewing it would develop an interest in wanting to come into contact with the actual cupcakes. It depicts and imagery of the actual thing. It is something that drives the viewer into desiring the actual thing.

The artwork looked very good from where it was placed. It was placed in a favorable location, and it was suitable given that my friend was involved with the cupcake business. She makes cupcakes for varied occasions, and there are usually different designs in her offering. This is something she has been doing for the past three years, and the business was going quite well. She had already established a loyal customer base. Being surrounded by paintings that reflect her work gives her the drive to push even further based on the positive reactions that people portray.

Upon seeing such a painting in her premises, potential customers are likely to get intrigued. The painting gives the essence of the imagination of what the real thing would be all about. It also keeps reassuring existing customers of the goodness of the products that they are receiving. Simply put, the painting is favorably placed as it acts as an advertising tool to the existing cupcake business.
