Identifying Arguments in Visual Media

The movie I watched was called ‘Bella’, which means beautiful. The movie was about two friends, Jose and Nina. Jose was damaged by the past. Precisely, the tragic accident he experienced ended his soccer career, and currently, he is working as a head chef at his brother’s restaurant. Regarding Nina, the young lady was worried about the future. Nina was working in the same restaurant, and she was concerned about her pregnancy. Due to morning sickness and lateness, she was fired from the restaurant. Jose showed generosity by helping the young lady. The argument the movie tried to portray revolved around two friends who helped one another make life-changing choices.

The movie tries to persuade audiences to be pro-lifers. Nina tried to get an abortion because she thought she could not raise the child because of her miserable condition; however, Jose intervened and persuaded her not to abort. According to the movie, sometimes, people might have to lose all to appreciate things that matter in life. The camera angle, editing, actors and lighting of the movie were powerful because of the message on pro-life touched emotions of our hearts. The effectiveness of the cinematography, sound, and music keep the attention of a person from start to end.

Documentary Film Analysis

The short film that I chose to watch was ‘Six Weeks’. The documentary talks about parents of a newborn in Poland who give up a child for adoption. The documentary explains the fate of children in the orphanage. Reasons mothers do not want to raise children is because they do not have the means to support their children. The mood of the film was annoying. Through the film, the actions portrayed a sad tone. When watching the film, one is likely to be moved by the fate of children in the orphanage. The filmmakers tried to help us understand the scenario by interspersing the film with scenes that portray the world from our perspective. There were blurred images that illustrated the helplessness of babies who have been given up by their parents. The filmmaker used six weeks to show how lives can be transformed.
