While reading the material, I learned that there are three types of influenza viruses which include type A B and C. Viruses do not reproduce sexually, they exchange genes.Influenza viruses are RNA viruses and not DNA viruses.  RNA material is less stable compared to DNA. The virus can easily mutate without detection by the cells of the host. The material also explains that the virus evolves either through antigenic drift or antigenic shift. Antigenic drift is a gradual process where the viruses slowly change the genetic composition to share almost similar antigenic components with the parent virus. However, in the long run, a different virus with the different antigenic component is formed. Antigenic shift is also known as reassortment.  Notably, this change occurs abruptly and the virus changes the generic composition yielding to a totally different virus from the mother virus. Influenza type A which is hard to vaccinate and control evolves through re-assortment while type B changes through drift.

Ineffectiveness of vaccines results due to a mismatch between the virus strain and the vaccine available. It is therefore essential to understand and predict the virus strain before producing the antibiotics. The government can maintain a high level of health standard by employing knowledge on influenza evolution. Different countries have also established national influenza centers with the aim of fighting against flu.

Human beings have different races depending on their genes.  Flues also have diversity just like human beings.For example, each type of a virus comprising of various components may combine to produce a new virus with unique components. If type A having eight components combine with type B with different 8 elements the resulting virus is completely different from both viruses.
