I was reading through your post, and I can tell you have written some interesting points. I agree with you that communication and language can be very complex as opposed to how we just view them. This is because they tend to convey a lot about the people even when they do not realize it. You can tell what the other individual really wants based on the words that they use, even when they do not want you to understand. Understanding the way varied cultures communicate is also important. This ensures that you do not misunderstand the people around you just because they express some things in a different way than you are used to.

You have reiterated that you tend to communicate differently while using different channels of communication. That is something that happens to almost everyone. This is the reason why educators need to assess the communication mechanisms that work best for their students. Assuming a one fits all approach will result in some being left behind. The way that you have elaborated the video on “12 pairs of legs” is quite compelling too. People should understand that just because someone is different from them, it does not mean that they are inferior.

The way that culture tends to influence communication also caught my eye. People have the tendency of judging others based on the way they perceive their behaviors.  They term others as being rude or incompetent based on how they respond to them, but that is not always the case. To the other party, it might just be a normal way of expressing themselves; just that it is different from what you are used to. It is also true that when it comes to language, people tend to comprehend similar ideologies in different ways. A given statement that might seem positive to one individual might come out as being negative to another person. That is why language has varied functions. It can be used to make requests, solve problems and describe ideas. There is always a high probability of misunderstanding in the context of language since people perceive some words differently. The post has given a good example of the use of jargon. Some words or expressions found within this context would only be understood by people within a certain group, and not outsiders. That is why it is important to elaborate some terms when they come up to ensure that everyone gets what is being discussed.
