Manga

Manga is a form of entertainment that has been entertaining Japanese people for many decades, manga usually involves pictures that tell stories of the people and pass a particular message. The comic is usually practised in western countries where artists draw pictures to tell stories. The picture has a small explanation explaining what is happening in the picture. Both manga and comics are meant to entertain the children. Manga is only found in Japan while the comic is found in several western countries. Manga and comic reflect the culture of the people since they talk about what is happening in the society, they usually pass the culture of the people to children because the children pay attention to them as they get entertained by the stories that they tell.

The Japanese manga has created superheroes that the children are supposed to embrace, the superheroes are designed according to the culture of the Japanese people and what they would like to see their children embracing (Kinsella). The western commit also creates a picture in the mind of the patients that they are supposed to embrace and as their role model. There are significant differences between manga and comic is that they represent a different culture of the people that they represent. Both manga and commit represent the values of the people; therefore, they are designed to help the children acquire the values that the parents want them to have.

Both communities both in Japan and western countries are facing challenges in dealing with modernity, modernity is influencing the content of manga and comic contents increasing the chances of influencing the children. Preservation of culture is the desire of any community to preserve the customs for future generations; therefore they put up measures to prevent the influence of other cultures. Modernisation has brought a threat to eliminate the culture of Japanese people.  Modernity allows people to interact at a global scale, therefore, providing a platform to exchange cultural practice.

Manga and comic materials are created on a global scale; therefore, the creator changes the content, the content does not reflect the culture of the people. This is a significant threat to the culture of Japanese people. The way they narrate the stories has been changing because the creators are only concerned with making money that they get from the sales. The creators of manga, for example, does not mean they are Japanese, they might be Chinese’s; therefore, they don’t understand the culture of the Japanese people that they want to protect. This poses a significant threat to the culture of the Japanese people because the kids will be influenced by embracing the culture of other people.

First impression of manga from Americans point of view

The first impression of manga to the American is that it is a form of comedy, it is believed that the American are the ones who took manga to Japan as they went to Japan to build it after the world war. The American needed to tell their own stories to represent what had happened after the World War (Wood). The soldiers who had participated in the war needed to find a way to relive their emotional torture and challenges that they had gone through during the war. The American troops began by introducing the American comic in, but the Japanese needed to change the comic to reflect their culture and way of life. Manga was born from the American comic.

The Japanese writers began to write their books in the form of manga because they were interesting to the people while reading them. The people had embraced manga, and therefore the writers wanted to exploit the opportunity. Manga’s become very popular (Kinsella). Most Americans view manga as a form of comedy that is communicated through writings in the form of cartoons. The view manga as imaginations of the people that are meant to tell stories that concern them. The artists also use manga to tell stories the affect the society such as equal opportunities to both genders. Manga has been used over the years to pass sensitive information that concerns the people.

Manga’s role in Japan

Manga plays a significant role in preserving the culture of the Japanese people. Japanese faced the challenge of being influenced by western culture. The Japanese people faced a challenge of preserving their culture after American troops were sent to Japan to rebuild it after the world war. The Japanese people got the manga way of preserving the culture from the American comic. They changed the comic to manga to suit their culture. The culture is stored in the form of pictures and words.

Manga also is used in passing the culture of the Japanese people to the next generation, and the kids learn from the already written manga that talks about the culture of the people (Wood). Cultures from other communities and countries consume some cultures if not stored appropriately. Also, the manga is used to entertain the kids through stories that are meant to entertain the kids. Manga comprises of stories both fiction and true stories that are meant to pass specific messages to the kids. Many of the cultures that are preserved by manga could not be stored using any other form.

Target audiences

There are different kinds of manga that are meant to be read by different audiences. Depending on the audience target, Japanese manga’s contain different content. The content of the manga is designed to fit a specific target group in society and address their concerns. Among the target audiences include the kids. The content of the manga that is meant for kids usually contains the culture of the Japanese people and the values that they need to have. The creators of the children manga ensure that the content educates the children because the children learn from the environment that they exist on. There is also the manga that re meant to entertain the children.

The other target audience for the Japanese manga include the adults, and they include the parents, the youth and the elderly. The purpose of such manga is meant to inform them what is happening in society (Wood). The manga for adults are produced periodically, and they highlight the happenings of the community, some of the concerns of the people are also addressed through manga. Many activities happen and concern the people; therefore, they need to be aware of them. Such manga is common among the people who purchase them for a different purpose.

They have solved the challenges in enabling conversations among the people. Manga has become so popular among the people that communication through manga has been embraced in all the sectors of the economy. The children have been able to learn the art of reading, and the manga makes the reading interesting for children.

Manga cheap so merchandise expensive

There is a concern of the ever increasing price of manga, and the price has increased significantly to the extent that many potential customers are unable to purchase. The increased due to increased satisfaction of the manga. The prices have also been influenced by the influx of fake mango that is designed to flood the market (Wood). The price of the manga needed to be affordable to the people so that they could access the information that is being shared. Making them expensive means that people will miss out important information being shared to the people.

The pushed man” and Yoshihiro Tatsumi

Yoshihiro and Tatsumi well-known manga artists in Japan, they started drawing in 1950 at a time when manga began to be introduced in Japan. The push man concerns are about a person working for the subway, and he used to help people at the railway. Yoshihiro Tatsumi wrote stories that people did not expect such as “the push man” (Wood).  Yoshihiro Tatsumi is the grandfather of Japanese comics and “the push man” is an example of such comics. It talks about the life of Japanese in urban areas. His stories are not only haunting but also disturbing and humorous as they touch on the urban social life of Japanese people.  The society is crowded, and there is trouble in both the emotional and sexual life of individuals. Yoshihiro Tatsumi stories are not what people anticipated, but they depicted what was happening in the society post-war.

In “the push man” the theme of sex is highly evident. A man is trying to balance both the sex life as well as societal expectations. One of the characters is a student of medicine who is a sperm donor but tries to make it a secret.  His expectations are however overturned when his sperms are rejected in a fertility clinic (Wood). There is also a young couple whose marriage is affected when a sewer rat moves in to their home. The relationship of the two men is intertwined since one of them hires the other to watch him through a telescope while doing sex. The meeting with a female TV personality turns fatal as a result of obsession. These stories depict what people went through after the war although people did not expect that there was someone who could do write such stories. The stories depicted real-life social problems in Japan after the war, so they were not entirely comic but rather presented the life of Japanese especially those living in the urban areas. Manga stories were funny stories, but Yoshihiro Tatsumi stories were not entirely comic but instead presented mixed feelings.
