Media’s Impact in Our Lives

The media has a significant impact on our lives. Everything we say or do is scrutinized by the internet directly or indirectly. It is a powerful source of information because people learn helpful and positive news from the media. However, some sources sometimes may give false, biased, inaccurate, and dangerous data. Statistics show that 90 percent of people who use media channels have at one point witnessed misinterpretation. I have been a victim of information misconstruction.

In my opinion, the most appropriate way to deal with the media is to provide comprehensive information that focuses on the benefits and risks of aesthetics procedures. The media will, therefore, publish or portray correct, detailed, and reliable data which stimulates clients to seek the expertise of the aesthetics surgeon. Thus, people should eliminate any myths and misconception surrounding plastic surgery. The bottom line is, the media will always play a part in determining the “standards of beauty” which individuals will perceive as ideal and achievable. It is upon the aesthetics surgeon to stay tuned to the upcoming trends of perfect beauty and aim at improving surgical procedures for the clients.

The society should formulate policies to protect the reputation of aesthetics surgeons. It is also expected to provide a clear framework stating the standards and guidelines for running a plastic surgery facility. This will help in determining significant decisions such as license approval, media restrictions, and service regulation. A society with strict laws and rules lessens cases of inaccurate and poorly done procedures leading to complications.  By doing so, the community will be able to control the quality and accuracy of the systems (Branford and Kamali, 2016).

The media is required to take into consideration the opinion of the cosmetologists and aesthetics surgeon before advertising certain products to manage patients’ expectations and reduce pressure on the experts. Also, the lifestyle that is nutrition, diet, and exercise factor should also be taken into account before the commercialization of these products. The media and culture constantly redefine the ideology of perfect beauty. Aesthetics society and other organizations should incorporate ideas, strategies, and suggestions to conduct in-depth research on ways of improving surgical procedures to meet the expectations of the patients. Clients always want to look and feel their best. Hence, they are hands on the latest technology. So, it is crucial for aesthetic surgeons to be updated with the latest technologies to provide quality and accurate procedures (de Blacam et al., 2015).

If the media continues to dominate the parameters of beauty, the demand for aesthetic plastic surgery continues to grow. People will be compelled to manage their facial aging, alter or enhance their bodies to provide them with the body features they like. Soon, the desire to look young and attractive may become even more common as people live and work longer. The most popular procedures are breast augmentation, scar management, liposuction, and tummy tucks. The future trend is thought to be of natural and progressive plastic surgery changes.

With all the existing plastic surgery technologies and research continuing, it is exciting to wonder what the future holds. Plastic aesthetic surgery is full of endless possibilities and achievements that we cannot even imagine. It is estimated that the number of plastic surgeries will increase by 7.1% by 2030. Change of preferences for specific procedures in different age brackets is likely to lead to increased demand for plastic surgery (de Blacam et al., 2015).
