Milestone Three Guidelines and Rubrics

Nowadays, there have been insufficient nursing services in the society that lead to many individuals not being sufficiently attended. Inadequate nursing services have led to only a few people receiving medical services whereas a large number of the population lives without the medical assistance from the nurses. Therefore, based on the challenges the nursing sector is undergoing, milestone three has been developed to help solve the issues. Milestone Three has been designed to provide a chance to come up with a community health nursing intervention and evaluation for a community that is healthy. Milestone Three will also help solve problems in the society such as those described in milestone Two. One is supposed to apply the components in the nursing process to give a hand to the vulnerable population and come up with a proposal that should be used by the people.

Many patients have had problems such as pressure ulcers which have resulted in the patient feeling pain and living an unfortunate kind of life. There has been a need for unique skin and wound care for the patients, hospitalization to improve the lives of the patients. Improved quality will make a significant impact in improving the health of an individual. Improved quality outcomes include elements such as clinically competent nurses and collaborative working relations. Clinically qualified nurses will ensure that the patients are well attended to and in the right manner. They must ensure that the patients lack nothing such as medication, foods to mention but a few. Collaborative working relations will ensure that the nurses and workers in the hospital environment do understand each other fully with no arguments. High understanding and decreased arguments provide a peaceful environment for both the workers and patients.  Too much noise caused by arguments and misunderstandings can result in discomfort to the patients. In addition to that, it is necessary to have adequate nursing staff. This stuff will ensure that the patients are well attended to with no delay due to insufficiency. Increased number of staff will also reduce on the pressure nurses usually have on productivity. With a large number of nurses in a hospital, there will be proper distribution of the workload available thus each nurse will receive a manageable share (Curran et al., 2009). Proper distribution of duties will increase effectiveness, and thus the production pressure will reduce however so,  the production itself will increase. Lastly, the presence of a proper managerial system will ensure that all the activities are well taken care of in the nursing environment. This environment will ensure that there are reduced mistakes that are taking place in the nursing environment thus will enhance that all the individuals in the hospital are well taken care of according to their wants and needs.

The ability to communicate effectively and efficiently is an important skill that all nurses should have. Nurses communicate with different people in hospitals, those with different social backgrounds, educational background, and different cultures. It is therefore essential for nurses to communicate with their patients in an effective manner showing care and compassion to the patients. For instance, the nurses should be able to communicate with the patients in a transparent manner without shouting to them. Some patients have hearing disabilities especially the old ones. Some nurses will tend to shout so as the patients to hear, but this will make it difficult for the patients to understand what is being communicated. A clear tone will ensure that the message is passed effectively with no disrupter. It is also essential for nurses to remember their audience while communicating. The nurses should use the appropriate words when speaking to patients rather than using slang that not all patients can understand. Nurses should choose the right words when talking to patients. For instance, nurses should use the word medicine rather than drugs when speaking to patients. In a hospital environment, the drug is used to refer to illicit substances that should not be used by individuals. Nurses should also have the patience to listen to their patients.

Lastly, nurses should know how to communicate using sign languages. This communication will enable them to effectively communicate with patients who cannot communicate through word of mouth. Some patients in the hospital have been injured too much that they are unable to talk while others are too old to talk. Thus the only means they use to communicate is using sign language (Sanip & Rahman, 2018). Apart from sign languages, it is essential to know how to read and write. Some patients would instead prefer to write their issues down on a piece of paper rather than using sign language. With effective communication methods in a hospital environment, there will be a smooth and faster flow of activities due to effective communication with proper understanding.

Inappropriate data flow has led to errors being made in the nursing environment. Nurses and other medical practitioners have put the wrong information that has resulted in mistakes in the hospital. Therefore, it is necessary to come up with the most appropriate data flow system in a nursing environment.  Improved data flow has led to increased quality of patient care and reduced medical errors. With anyone in a position to access the right information in the data system, the nurses rarely make mistakes. They provide the right services to patients according to their needs. Proper data flow also helps the administration to properly manage and control the activities occurring in the hospital environment with ease (Smith, 2016). Easy management has been brought by the availability of a system that can be used to access all activities that are taking place in the hospital or nursing home.

Poor leadership results in stagnant level of transformation hence strong leadership are necessary for a nursing environment. Improved administration results in a change in health care. All nurses should be leaders in that they are accountable in all the activities that are taking place in a nursing home. The nurses should aim at providing high-quality care to enhance the chances of patients surviving in nursing homes. Poor leadership results in reckless nurses thus increase the chances of a patient not surviving in the nursing home. Leadership in the nursing career enables one to be an outstanding nurse compared to others (Curran et al., 2009). One can identify the problems patients are undergoing as they are nursed in the nursing homes. The nurses are also the ones to devise new solutions to the issues that the patients are experiencing. With weak leadership, the patients will remain to undergo the problems because no nurse is concerned with their well-being. Responsible nurses can also take responsibility for planning their improvement in the nursing home and also keeping track of the growth. Improvement in a nursing environment will lead to proper and efficient services offered to the patients.

The above examples are requirements in a nursing environment. With an improvement in quality outcomes, communication skills, leadership, and data flow, there will be a total improvement in the nursing fraternity as a whole. These requirements will result in a growth in services offered by nurses and thus can also lead to an increase in a patient’s health. Therefore, the above examples and illustrations should be well followed to enhance change in the nursing department.
