My Decision to Study Law

My Decision to Study Law

Growing up I never comprehended that actions had consequences. As a toddler, I would cause trouble unbothered by the retaliations commensurate to my derailed actions. Getting grounded was a recurring experience thus I got cushioned to such punitive measures. Interestingly, there were times I was subjected to falsehood as I lied my way out of trouble. When I look back in the sense of humor, I am bewildered by the principle of lying that impeded the truth; to maintain a lie one must be creative in connecting the next false remark. It was not until I was of sound age, during my high school years, that I came to comprehend the true meaning of truth and justice that completely transformed my life.

My friend was falsely accused of vandalizing school property. She was to be used as an example for the rest of the students. The head teacher purposed to inform her parents of her ‘heinous’ crime. Knowing how strict her folks were, she got weary of the scolding bound to befall her for her actions. Watching her sob in a remorseful fashion endeared my entire being, I knew I had to intervene. Just by watching her I could feel she was of guilty of the crime she had committed. Devoid of any connection to her, I stepped in and successfully defended her, and she got absolved of the allegations on her head. It was the aftermath that had me fully satisfied with what I had achieved, and I grew a passion for defending the unfortunate in line with the principle of truth and justice. Rooted in my drift to a goal oriented individual was my family. Looking back, the challenge of transforming my state of mind and being (from being troublesome to focused) appeared insurmountable. My folks held on, being there for me through my tribulations. In cases of fault, I was reprimanded commensurate to my inequity accompanied by sound advice from my parents. Schooling was mandatory, and my elder brother and dad assisted me through the squabbles I endured in my studying endeavors. I developed a thick skin to the hardships in school profound in subjects I found hard to comprehend. My parents guided me through the disciplines as they encouraged me on to believing in my capabilities. As a return of favor, I seek to bolster their social standing and financial endowment. My dad has endured sickness for a while, and the medication is costly. His situation is a driving force to me, pushing harder to empower myself to be impactful in providing him the assistance he deserves. The case at hand gears my yearning and commitment to success as I understand that I have no room to fail. Even at his current predicament, my father inspires me with his resilience and strength as he faces the jargon of being very ill. He has a great deal of hope in me as he and the entire family aspire for me to be a lawyer. They are supportive and resonate with my principles of truth and justice. Moving from one locality to another enabled us to witness multiple injustices in our society especially regarding discrimination. We shun the vice as we had seen firsthand instances where one had suffered at the end of the axes, such as when our black American neighbor was locked up for a crime he didn’t commit. The entire family feels partaking studies to become a fully-fledged lawyer will be of benefit. However, I aspire to be a paralegal. It has been my dream for a while now, and I feel I would influence and significantly affect society effectively in that capacity. I am convinced to be of tremendous service to my community and nation, given success being paramount and I being a great team builder. The people need a focused individual, my capability of using attention to detail as part of a team will come in handy. In my drive to achieve my goals, I majored in psychology and sociology to get the gist of human behavior and character development. My experience has also improved my ability to read situations and capturing nature in its realness. In preparation with growing into an ideal paralegal, I took legal studies that assisted in bolstering my research skills in the field. My current occupation entails scrutinizing my colleagues work in assessing any discrepancy. I have to be fair though thorough in my endeavors to avoid errors. The move has sharpened my skills especially analytical and logical reasoning. In a holistic approach, I have matured as a better professional than I was initially.

The community requires assistance from all available avenues. I want to be steadfast in making a difference in assisting them and my family that I immensely value. Empowered with the right disciplines and an industrious character, I am convinced to further my studies to achieve my aspirations. My decision to study law mirrors my principles and community needs. I want to succeed in becoming a paralegal; therefore, I hope law school will boomerang me to greater heights through tool empowerment.
