My Summers in High school

My Summers in High school

Unlike many high school students, most of my summers were not meant for having fun and traveling the country with friends. I was more concerned with community involvement. It always brings a sense of satisfaction knowing that I have influenced someone’s life in a positive way. As a result, I used to volunteer at the CPEP summer camp. CPEP has the objective of motivating under-represented students and guiding them towards actualizing their careers. It is more geared towards students that desire to pursue STEM careers. I used to volunteer at the camp as a Counselor in Training (CIT). My scope of operation was to help camp coaches and teachers run various errands for the director. Being the head CIT meant that I also had the responsibility of training other CITs and organize them for certain jobs.

While working at CPEP, I accomplished the desire of making an impact on other people’s lives. I have worked with over two hundred young minds through this program. Working with energetic young kids brings a wonderful feeling since you are sure they will succeed in their endeavors due to the progress made. I also had the opportunity of improving my skills with regards to working in partnership. All the stakeholders involved ought to have collaborated in one way or another for the program to become fruitful. This culminated to a motivated and cheerful environment.

The entire experience gave me a feeling that my goals are realistic. My career inclines towards the technical theater. This means that I would have to interact with younger generations on various occasions in my line of work.  This is because I desire going back to ECA as a technical director.   It is always inspiring to have an idea of what your career will entail. Encountering situations that make you feel more encouraged helps boost your confidence. It gives an assurance that you are proceeding in the appropriate direction.
