  1. Title (Make it interesting):

Preparations and Actions to take in the Event of a Volcanic Eruption

  1. Introduction
    1. Start with an intriguing question or a surprising fact:

”More than 80% of the earth’s surface is volcanic in origin. The sea floor and some mountains were formed by countless volcanic eruptions. Gaseous emissions from volcano formed the earth’s atmosphere” (Leavitt 61).

  1. Briefly explain the importance of your topic to your reader:

People should be concerned about volcanic eruptions due to the negative impacts that are involved. From past experience, volcanoes have resulted to destruction of properties and resulted to deaths of many people. A good example is the Mt.Pelee eruption that resulted to more than 30,000 people dying.

  1. Write your thesis statement(How can people be prepared for this natural disaster?):

People can prepare for the disaster by having an emergency kit supply including things that they might need and devising a family emergency plan in case things get out of hand.

  1. Definition:
    1. Define the natural disaster (example: What is avolcano?).

According to Ready, “a volcano is a mountain that opens downward to a reservoir of molten rock below the surface of the earth.”

  1. What causes this natural disaster?

A volcano is caused by pressure mounting on the magma chamber, which results to some contents being forced to the surface. The magma is ejected through the cracks found in the rocks.

  1. What source(s) are you using for this section of your paper?

  1. Problems(explain the main problems that this natural disaster causes. For example, how does this disaster affect people, property, or the environment? How much do these disasters cost?)
    1. Problem 1:

Volcanic eruptions can result to numerous deaths. A good example is Mt. Pelee eruption, which resulted to approximately 30,000 deaths.

  1. Problem 2:

A volcano can also result to destruction of property. When Mt. Helens erupted in 1980, it resulted to destruction of the surrounding forest, and this resulted to $1 billion losses for the timber industry.

  1. (Optional) Problem 3:

Volcanoes can also result to a change in climate due to various gases that they emit to the atmosphere. This includes gases such as sulfur dioxide aerosol.
