A phenomenon of interest is the negative effects of divorce on children mainly in the United States. . The divorce rates have dramatically risen in recent times not only in the United States but all over the world. However, the rates are highest in the developed countries. Most of the couples who divorce have children and growing up in a divorce has become the alternative for many children especially in United States (Fagan & Churchill, 2012). After reviewing several theories and publicans about this topic, i noticed that most of the researchers agree that divorce have negative effects to the children. Some effects are shorter while others are permanent.

Some of the issues that may affect how this issue may be studied are its nature and measurability. It is hard to quantify an effect. One cannot say that this effect is worse than the other based on any measure. In addition, dealing with such kind of children with different effects may be challenging since it might look like bringing the bad experiences back to their minds. A topic like this could be studied in a social setting. Divorce is a social phenomenon and can only be studied in a social setting (Fagan & Churchill, 2012).

This research could have different possibilities to the society. First, all parents always wants the best for their children. With the knowledge of the effects a divorce could have on their children, parents would better plan for divorce. In addition, some parents would choose to stay together for the sake of the children and this would benefit the children. Most of the children suffer because their parents do not know that divorce has any effects.
