Nursing health interventions for health promotion

The involvement of all family members as a nursing intervention strategy for health care is essential. There is a difference in the makeup of every family biologically as well as emotionally (Kaakinen, Coehlo, Steele and Robinson,2018). The consideration of family members as partners in the process of care in collaboration with nurses would be a great asset in meeting the healthcare needs of the patient.  There tends to be a smooth execution in the care plan of a patient once the family members are involved. Family members support the improvement of the patient through encouragements in terms of emotional support, management of pain as well as nutrition (Coyne, 2015). The enhancement of a family unit’s well being is vital during the wellness period as well as during stress and recovery of the illness. Family health is attainable when they are empowered to work together in nursing care.

The Andersons, a family in my neighborhood, have a son who was diagnosed with a brain tumor when he was 15. This report took a tall on everyone in the family, causing them to think that the son was going to succumb to the illness in no time. I would recommend that they adopt the family involvement of all members to ensure the well being and full support for their ailing son. By closely working together they will also need some nursing intervention to monitor how the patient responds to the ailment. All the members of the family should show concern and care and encourage the patient, ensuring that he does not stay alone and worry too much. Each member of the Anderson family should avoid showing the patient that they have panicked and that they are remorseful, but rather, they ought to cheer him up for the sake of his mental state. Stress and thoughts can quickly get a patient untimely succumbing to a particular illness rapidly. It is therefore essential to ensure the stability of the mind first before even addressing other aspects like nutrition.

Together with the Anderson family, I will ensure that I participate in providing the stability of their son through encouragements and keeping a close look at the nutrition and feeding patterns. I will also ensure that together with the family members, we work closely with health care officials to ensure effective delivery of care. For the nurses, they should ensure improved care delivery by empowering the patient together with the family to be participants in the proper care plans. This exercise should be even after coming back home from the hospital. All the family members have a common influence on a patient in the family (Kaakinen et al., 2018).  They ought to ensure that they partner with nurses to provide improved health care outcomes.
