Preparing to Conduct Business Research: Part 3

In any business research where one is not able to collect information from the whole population one might result to sampling. This is a process whereby a researcher selects a few units in the population of interest. Under this process, the researcher will make inferences of the character of the whole population from findings of the selected sample. The scientific way within which vital statistical information of a population is obtained from sampling saves a lot of time and resources.   Sampling is an essential process in a research process since it is at times difficult and expensive to cover the whole population in the research process.  In this where our main of conducting the research is to find out why the food sale g gradual. There is need to select a portion of the customer who will participate in the research. The hotel have different clients this different clients have different tastes and preferences. Therefore there is need to classify the client into different groups so to be able to study the behaviors and the reason for the dissatisfaction with our services (Kothari, 2011).

From the above discussion, the most appropriate sampling method is non probability sampling method, cluster sampling method. Under this method client to participate in this study will be picked at random and then they will be will be divided into different groups according to the nature of food that they consume at the hotel, for instance those consuming beverages will be separated from those taking snacks. This is a critical sampling technique since biasness will be greatly avoided. Under this technique, all the individuals likely to be included in the sample will have no equal chances of being selected.

The sampling frame used will be most the regular customers who usually take their meals frequently at the hotel. The appropriate sample size in this case should be representative of the population. This is based on the fact a small sample which is not representative of the populations would lead increase in the sampling error while a large sample will be much expensive for the organization. Therefore, 40 respondents who will be selected from the population that is from client at random. The sample size to participate in the study in this case will be determined through analysis of the average number of clients that usually obtain services from the hotel. The sample will also try to balance in terms of age and gender to ensure that the research findings are not skewed. Effectiveness of any research process will be greatly affected by the nature of the sample (Kothari, 2011).

After collecting the data, the data will be analyzed using the various statistical tests, for example, in this case t- test will be conducted to assess the significance of the results study. In addition to t- test, an ANOVA analysis will be conducted and the P value calculated as well to ascertain whether the results ascertained are statistically viable (Kothari, 2011). After the result are obtained they will be analyze using descriptive statistics where the results obtained will be presented in data tables and graph. The findings will be discussed while incorporating various concepts.
