Framing ensures that there is social construction of different phenomena’s occurring within our immediate environment. The social phenomena’s can change a person’s perception of various phrases and words used on a daily basis. In most cases, Framing manifests itself through interpersonal communication and thoughts making it easy to carry out mental representations which simplify reality. In conversations, framing can either be positive or negative depending on the people receiving the information. This is because framing ensures that two or more logical alternatives are highlighted in different ways. Therefore, ensuring that a topic is extensively covered and is not biased towards a particular side. On the other hand, preference reversal refers to a situation where a preference for a specific bundle is shifted after all the options have been exhausted.

Identify tendencies in personal framing and preference reversals that might hinder active idea generation when working on possible resolutions.

Typically, there are various tendencies in personal framing and preference reversals that might hinder current idea generation in an organization. One trend for own framing includes different ways in which a particular issue can be framed. This concept of framing ensures that a question or problem is covered or outlined extensively to ensure that all possible solutions are considered. However, various personal framing techniques can have an adverse influence on the decisions made by a leader or an organization. Therefore, it is essential to ensure that Framing is carried out in a manner that makes it easy for an organization to evaluate possible solutions or implement a contingency plan in case the decision made is not favorable to the organization or its employees.

Additionally, Imperfect perceptions can be made using personal framing making it easy to draw inaccurate conclusions which might end up injuring an organization in the short or long-term. However, preference reversals tend to ensure that emotions and feelings are involved in the decision-making process. This makes it difficult to collect data about a particular problem actively. A preference reversal is made depending on how an individual feels in a specific time. In most cases, a person follows his or her gut feeling to make crucial decisions (Bazerman, 2013).

Assess motivational and emotional influences on decision-making.

Discuss how motivation and emotion might hinder your (and your stakeholders’) ability to generate new ideas and embrace effective solutions.

Motivation and emotion might hinder the ability to generate new ideas in several ways. Motivation may block new ideas by the lack of motivation or expressing too much motivation. The motive is deemed to be good. However, it can be used in the wrong mindset. As well, emotion is never good when creating ideas. Those ideas may seem reasonable to the person profiting from them, however when making a business decision, emotion should not be used, and opinions should not be expressed for one’s benefit. These conflicts include the want- should conflict as well as the self- serving perceptions of fairness. (Bazerman, 2013) When myself or my stakeholders are held accountable, it is likely that we make better rational decisions. Making a sensible cost-benefit analysis will allow a better choice to be made.

Examine which strategies that you as a leader can utilize for self-managing motivation and emotion in decision-making

As a leader, there are various strategies that I can use for self-motivation and managing my emotions at work. As a form of self-motivation, I ensure that I split complex tasks into smaller tasks which can be handled quickly and fast. At the same time, I guarantee that I motivate other employees to work hard so that we can meet the organizational objectives. However, managing my emotions is a different case. I try to take deep breaths and relax whenever my feelings want to make the better part of my judgments.

Additionally, I tend to leave different stressors which are not related to my work at home. This ensures that they don’t affect my job and the judgments that I make while at work. At the same time, I’m also respectful to other employees, and therefore I’m always in a position to listen to their ideas without necessarily giving out my point of view.

Identify strategies that you can utilize for promoting input and creativity in your stakeholders for solving your specific problem (as identified in week 1) — asses strategies for the escalating commitment of your stakeholders within your chosen organization.

Promoting input and creativity in an organization is crucial in ensuring that the organization meets its daily objectives. Strategies and techniques adopted to encourage creativity and input involve allowing different meetings which make it easier for employees to express their private opinions and ideas in regards to various matters that affect them in the organization. When the perceptions of different stakeholders within an organization are evaluated, then appropriate decisions can be made which are acceptable to all stakeholders in an organization. This makes it easier to come up with a mutual understanding in an organization which is fair to everyone in the organization. However, it is essential to note that not all ideas have the ability to have an impact on the decision-making process. Only fundamental ideas and opinions can affect the decision making in an organization. This is because the critical objective of decision making in an organization is to increase revenues and enhance consumer retention and loyalty.
