Quality of care is one of the ethical concerns witnessed in dentistry. Quality care is concerned with the provision of proper medication to patients. However, patients experience substandard care without their knowledge; an occurrence that is propelled by misleading advertisements and the increasing number of unqualified dentists. One of the strategies for ethical decision-making in public dental care is to advise patients genuinely on treatment options, which involves costs, duration of the treatment, and side effects. Sincere recommendations to patients would improve the quality of dental care.

The promotion of oral health can be achieved in various ways such as empowering children and teenagers on matters of self-management of oral care, encourage registration of children with National Health Service dentists, and educate teachers on how to deliver oral health support and advice aimed at realizing behavioral change.
2. Some of the programs that have improved population health include Telehealth and Epic Haiku. Telehealth allows care centers to link their patients to medical practitioners, which promotes communication and coordination leading to better clinical action. Whereas, Epic Haiku enables the monitoring of patients details and treatment progress (“Haiku for iPhone, iPod Touch or Android”).

Question 8:The Dissimilarities between Laws and Professional Codes of Ethics

Ethics are the set principles that direct a profession on best practices to distinguish between right and wrong in any given situation. Whereas, laws are rules established by an authoritative body such as a government to be implemented within a specific jurisdiction. Therefore, it is critical for a dental health practitioner to understand the laws and ethics of their profession to enable them to know how to handle their patients and how to safeguard themselves from consequences linked to violations of laws.

Question 9: Health Disparities and Factors Associated with Oral Health Inequality

Health disparities are the differences witnessed in the health status of people in specific groups. The different factor associated with oral health disparities include race, sexual orientation or socio-economic status.

Question 10: The Ideal Dentist to Population Ratio

According to WHO the ideal ratio of a dentist to population should be 1:7500 (Yadav and Gautam). However, achieving such a ratio is unsustainable due to the rapid population growth. Therefore, I would propose a ratio of 1:20,000.
