Radiographers also referred to as radiologic technologist, are specialized technicians who image organs, tissues as well as bones for diagnosis for the patient. Therefore, they are equipped with interpersonal and technological skills necessary to handle imaging equipment for patient care. Radiographer practices cutting edge technology to give out x-rays, scans of computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging as well as other necessary images to help clinical radiologist and other physicians diagnose, treat or monitor patients with injuries or illnesses. Radiography involves various specializations such as trauma, CT, MRI, fluoroscopy as well as angiography.

Those specific areas define interactions existing between a radiographer and the patient, for instance, angiography requires the radiographer to image the patient’s blood vessels and heart, while the fluoroscopy involves internal body examinations, showing moving images on a screen. Moreover, for an individual to be a radiographer, he/she must attain a grade of 2.5 or higher with excellent performance mathematics and sciences such as biology and physics because radiation science employs mathematics as well as sciences to demonstrate the atomic development of x-radiations. Therefore, with no mathematical knowledge, the student will struggle to understand the basic principles of radiography presented during the academic course. That student can fail out of the radiography program or face probation. For example, the Southwest Virginia Community College’s program for radiology requires students to complete modules 1-6 of mathematics and to have completed the Geometry and Algebra I as a minimal prerequisite requirement successfully. The math and science skills equip the students with the knowledge needed for success in health care careers.

Unfortunately, during this radiographic endeavor, I encountered an occupational frustration that I will ever reflect upon that was a popped hindrance that interfered with the workflow through slow loading and manipulation of the image. Luckily, once I identified the problem and immediately reported the health care facility, which I was attached swiftly improved the workflow through a pre-programmed and automated feature for faster loading and manipulation of images for a higher intuitive workflow. Before the problem was managed, I felt, and my emotions were down accompanied with fatigue; however, I was motivated through problem identification process because it was a hitch that can be resolved for continuous swift operations of the radiographic equipment. An adequately managed system often reduces workload that might be incurred during the diagnostic procedures.

Moreover, various frustrations and hindrances occur within radiography setups, and they can be managed under well-stipulated criteria like optimized layout alongside display parameters depending on imagetype as well as content that can lead to improved ergonomics reading. Also, collaborating technologies for information sharing and consultation can reduce the emerging frustrations with a more significant percentage. In many cases, the professional and ethical behavior resolves various issues that may emerge within professionalism for routine quality assessment, which review how radiologists and radiographers provide study-reads to physicians and surgeons at the emergency department in a timely fashion.

The radiography as stated earlier conducts various imaging procedures for different organ systems; for instance,cystogram which is about an examination of theurethra and urinary bladder always performed by a radiologist alongside an x-ray radiographer as an assistant. During cystogram exam, catheterization is performed through insertion of a catheter (a thin flexible tube), then x-rays of the bladder are taken with the help of the contrast material in the patient’s bladder, which provides a clear view. A catheter introduces the contrast material within the bladder. Additionally, there is fluoroscopy imaging that provides a perfect motion of bladder as it empties urine during urination, and it is termed as avoiding cystogram. Therefore for practical cystogram examination, technologists are entitled to perform catheterization for clear contrast suitable for imaging the bladder and urethra. So, a catheter is inserted for adequate imaging, and in the viewed images the technologists performed the catheterization.

During the procedure there is no much preparation to make the patient comfortable; however, the patient should arrive 30 minutes early, and to have a catheter placed if he/she lacks one. I would also ask some questions about the procedure as well as clarifying some aspects involved in the cystogram. The patient should avoid eating or drinking before the test, or even tell if she is pregnant and allergic reactions; also the patient should say any existence of kidney failure to minimize discomfort during the operation.However, during the procedure, there are challenges such as noting down all x-rays found and risks of radiation exposure. The test is less painful during anesthetic injection, and it is also not embarrassing, because the catheter is removed before a patient walks home.
