Relating the Syllabus with my Understanding of Reading and Writing Concepts

Through my time in the school system and reading articles from varied sources, I have concluded that reading and writing go hand in hand. For one to become a good writer, they should be good readers. This is because being a diligent reader teaches one on what is most effective when constructing sentences and developing structure. In addition, it also improves one’s analytical thinking. Among the good reading practices, there is reading for a purpose, building comprehension skills and strategies, and integration among others.

Reading through the syllabus, I can tell that some of my ideas relate to those in the syllabus. Among them is the idea of practicing with regards to reading and writing to help become better. The syllabus also shows a correlation between reading and writing given that they go hand in hand. Coming up with strategies that could make an individual a better writer has been mentioned in the syllabus, and it is something that I uphold too. There is also the outline of how the art of reading and writing helps one to converse with other people in the community.

I am the kind of writer that believes one has to invest in reading for them to become even better in the art of writing. The ideas in the syllabus confirm some of the things that I know. However, I have been challenged in my thinking that anyone can undertake this course. I have come to understand that there are some attributes that one needs to demonstrate to show that they are capable of undertaking the course.
